Baby teeth deserve care, while they’re there !!!

Good Health is vital…esp. in kids. And its most neglected aspect is oral and dental health. Baby teeth don’t deserve care, because they will fall out eventually…..Well “it’s a Myth”.

Children lose their last baby tooth around 12yrs of age. Thats a long way to go and much a reason to protect them. Primary teeth are nature’s braces. They reserve space in gums for permanent teeth to come. Hence, your kids smile in the future depends on the condition of baby teeth today.

A few good habits and their proper enforcement can be of much help in ensuring child’s oral/dental hygiene.
• Clean gums even before the teeth arrive.
• Never let the baby sleep with milk bottle.
• Ditch the pacifier by age 2/3 or as soon as possible. Prolonged use causes misalignment of teeth.
• Start brushing after the first tooth comes.
• Brush teeth twice daily

(P.S When kids start self brushing their teeth, supervision is crucial to ensure adequate quantity of fluoride toothpaste that is from the size of a rice grain to the size of a pea by age 3)

• Restrict consumption of sugary foods and drinks. It changes acidity in mouth and attracts bad bacteria.
• Watch out for sweet medicines in case of chronic diseases. Ensure to rinse after.

And this list can go on and on. But the idea is to keep mouth bacteria in check as our mouth is the getaway to our body. Overall health depends highly on oral heath.

Conclusively, implementing good oral health habits in infancy sets the foundation of optimal oral health for life. We, as parents, hold the responsibility should take it very seriously.

“Bacteria don’t take a vacation & neither should oral hygiene.”
